ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police are investigating an overnight Smash 'n Grab at an East Albany grocery store.

Around one o'clock, police received an alarm call at the Pic 'N' Save at 2203 East Oglethorpe Boulevard. Arriving officers found pieces of shattered glass from a broken window covering the store front.

It appears the burglar or burglars used a shopping car to stand on as they busted out the front store window and climbed inside. Several cartons of Newport cigarettes were stolen from the shelves totaling in the hundreds of dollars.

Surveillance cameras inside and outside the store captured the crime from several different angles but so far, police haven't released a description of the suspect or suspects.

Store employees tell us the same window was smashed three weeks ago during an attempted burglary. In that case, the suspect fled when the alarm sounded.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Albany Police Department.
