DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - What was supposed to be a simple traffic stop led to a small chase in Dougherty County.

And police later found out what caused that suspect to run.

Saturday night Dougherty County police officers tried to pull over a vehicle for a tail light violation.

27-year-old Mark Hines refused to stop and was pursued on several streets in the Mosseydale Lane area.

He eventually jumped from the vehicle and ran, but was caught by DCP officer George Camp at the intersection of Fire Lane and Stonewater Drive.

Hines still refused to comply with the officer and was pepper sprayed.

When police searched the area, they recovered a shoe box with 45-grams of marijuana and more than four grams of cocaine.

Hines is charged with attempting to elude police, reckless driving, obstruction and a number of traffic and drug violations.
