BMX riders qualify for state championships

The Parks at Chehaw, GA (WALB) - About 160 bike riders made the rounds at Chehaw hoping to qualify for the Georgia State BMX Championships.

The Parks and Chehaw was the site for the fourth round of qualifying.

Riders of all levels competed against each other as family cheered them on.

People come to Albany from all over the state for the races.

"We have riders from all over the state of Georgia and Florida and Alabama, it's getting bigger it was put in the Olympics last year and now it's," Danny Acord, BMX Chapter President.

Later this year those qualifiers will be back right here in Albany for the state championships in October.

    Despite the scattered showers, we saw Saturday some people just couldn't resist hitting the water. In the morning, the Kinchafoonee Creek was at a good water level for boaters.
