Lucky coin helps break Wildcats streak

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - If you think a healthy Darnell Kennedy or a big play defense is why the South Georgia Wildcats snapped a three game losing streak Saturday, you would be wrong according to head coach Rodney Blackshear.

Head coach Rodney Blackshear says the streak was snapped because he got his lucky coin.

The coin was given to the coach by a Wildcat fan early in the season.

He forgot to pack it on a road game at Tennessee Valley in May which the Wildcats lost.

Then in early June, the lucky coin was left in the coach's car which he had to leave in Texas for repairs.

When the coach hurried back to Texas to pick up his car during the July fourth off week, the first thing he looked for was his lucky coin and as everybody found out Saturday.

The coach found his good luck charm and he is hoping the magic will continue throughout the playoffs.

Rodney Blackshear said. "I was looking forward and I couldn't find it. It was in an extra compartment in the back. Once I picked it up, I have kept it with me every where I have been since then."

The coach's lucky coin gets a big test when 12-2 Boise comes to the Albany Civic Center for the final home game of the regular season this Saturday night.
