ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Longtime Albany High assistant coach Felton Williams will be the Indians head football coach this season on an interim basis.

The Dougherty County school board approving Williams as the interim head coach for the Indians at their meeting Monday night.

Williams has been leading the Indians during their summer conditioning workouts since Reginald Mitchell resigned in early June to become head coach at Sherwood Christian Academy.

High school football teams in Georgia will start practicing in three weeks.

Albany High's first game is August 29th against Miller County at Hugh Mills Stadium.

A search for a full-time head coach at Albany High will be conducted after this season and Williams will be eligible to apply for the job.
