ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Quitman man is charged with attempted murder after he traveled to Tampa, Florida to purchase guns to kill his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Thirty-eight year old Christopher Brian Peters is being held in the Hillsborough County Jail. Tampa Police say Peters contacted an acquaintance on July seventh to buy two guns so he could kill his ex-wife's girlfriend who live in manatee County.

The acquaintance called police and worked with them to record phone calls with Peters. During the recordings Peters said he'd prepared an alibi to avoid arrest. Peters was arrested without incident and admitted the crime to police.
