ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Big crowds turned out for Fourth of July fireworks celebrations in Albany. The city estimates between 25,000 and 30,000 people showed up for the downtown show Saturday night.

Albany recreation Director Suzanne Davis says one reason the crowd was so big is because fewer people are traveling due to the economy.  She said, "We know that people aren't traveling as far with funds being limited and what not, so I think we had a great crowd. We didn't have any incidents reported to us. The vendors all seemed very happy and we're very happy."

There was also a major crowd out at the Marine Base Thursday night. Approximately 11,000 people showed up.  And some people were even turned away because there was no room left to park.
