CRISP COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Construction of a new strip mall near Cordele has ground to a halt because of the economy. Part of the Perimeter Park has been built.

A few businesses have already moved into the Perimeter Plaza shopping center.

But Cordele-Crisp County development officials say construction is behind schedule because there aren't enough businesses moving into empty lots.

Papa's Meats and Eats is the only store open in the plaza right now. And they say so far traffic there has been steady.

"We've done very well. We have our regulars that we love and have a relationship with, but we have done very well," said Jessica Balcom.

Shelby's Marketplace is expected to open July 4th. Backwoods Outdoors is also opening a new location in the Perimeter Plaza.
