ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County School Board is considering changes to the way it interviews and screens new workers.

Wednesday, the superintendent and board members went over the various groups and boards that interview new principals, coaches, and other middle management personnel in the district. Board members raised questions over whether those policies are fair and impartial and void of an nepotism.

"We are concerned that the selection policy and process be fair and that candidates are fully considered with the intent being the best qualified person is selected for the position," said David maschke, DCSS Board President.

In the past, some of the people on the committee selecting a candidate for a position have also been on that person's reference list. Maschke said teachers in the district are hired by principals. The board will take 60 to 90 days to review the policy before introducing changes they want to see.
