ALBANY, GA (WALB) - When Rock Knapp resigned as head coach at Sherwood Christian Academy in late April for health reasons, he said the one thing he was going to miss the most was coaching son Nile in his final season.

Rock Knapp will be watching his son play football this season from the stands but it will not be at Sherwood Christian.

Rock Knapp has told WALB News 10 Sports that his son is transferring to Southwest Georgia Academy for his senior year.

Rock Knapp says his son decided on SGA because he really felt comfortable with their coaches and players.

Rock Knapp added he and his son waited until Reginald Mitchell was hired as the Eagles new head coach before deciding whether to transfer.

Knapp says he has not spoken with new SCA head coach Reginald Mitchell about his son.

Mitchell says he has Knapp have left phone messages with each other.

Nile Knapp was a GISA all-state player last season where he had more than 2300 yards in offense playing running back, quarterback, defensive back and special teams.

Nile Knapp set a Sherwood Christian single season record with more than 1600 yards rushing last year.
