ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Community support continues to pour in for an Albany boy battling cancer.

People have been praying for 3-year-old Ward Wright for weeks. Monday afternoon, some played for him and his family. Family friend Nate Branch organized a fundraiser at Doublegate Country Club.

27 teams played golf and raised more than $14,000 for the Wright family. Ward continues to get treatment at a children's hospital in Atlanta for a large mass in his stomach.

"You don't expect it to happen to anyone but when it happens to a young person, it just makes it that much more tragic. However it's been so wonderful how people have opened their hearts and their arms and their pocketbooks and their prayer life to lift Ward up," said Ward's grandfather Tommy Wright.

Austin's Barbeque provided lunch for the golfers. You can help with Wright's medical bills by donating to the Ward Wright Fund at Heritage Bank.
