Albany- South Georgians are still running to every pet store just to find a small cuddly gift for a close friend or family member. Jeremy Milstead works at Cuddly Critters Pet Store, and he says during this time of year, their sales increase drastically.

Pet store workers also say when people come into buy pets, they forget there are long term costs like vet visits and medicine. And dogs, aren't the only hot tickets in town because people are also looking for cats and even birds.

Milstead says no matter what pet you put under the Christmas tree, you should make sure the person you're buying for wants to take on what he calls a huge responsibility.

If you're looking for a pet, it's also important to remember the size of your living space should accommodate that pet you buy.
