ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Thinking about becoming a homeowner?  Now's a great time to buy. The housing market in Albany hit a low in January when Saturation hit 20.

That meant it took 20 months to sell off inventory.

It's picked up since then and is down to just eleven. Plus there's an $8,000  tax credit for new homeowners. A workshop will be held in Albany next week to let folks know why now is such a good time to buy... and how to take the plunge.

"It is really booming right now and it's a great opportunity for buyers to learn more about how to purchase a home," said Mary Linda Cotten of Walden & Kirkland.

Rosa Ramsey with AB&T said, "In 27 years of banking, I've never seen our government give a customer incentive to buy a home by offering them a tax credit."

Jamie Parker of Albany Bank and Trust added, "They even have the opportunity to use that credit as a down payment."

Albany Bank and Trust, Langley & Lee, and Walden and Kirkland are sponsoring the workshop at the Albany Board of Realtors Thursday, June 25th from 6-7:30 PM.
