VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta homeowners worried about foreclosure can attend a free workshop this weekend.

The city is offering a Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention Awareness Workshop on Saturday.

Experts from counseling agencies approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development will be there to offer advice and help those behind on their mortgage payments create a financial plan to save their home.

"Anyone who may be thinking they may be facing foreclosure in the future, or may be behind on payments, this is an option for them to come and learn about the various programs that are available just in case they need help," says Neighborhood Development Coordinator Kelley Thomas.

"Definitely reach out and get some help," says Keisha Harris, who will represent the Develop & Empower Agency at the workshop.  "There is hope. We've helped home owners the day of the sale stop the sale."

The foreclosure prevention workshop will be held from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM Saturday in the multi-purpose room at the Valdosta City Hall Annex.
