Alltel coming to downtown Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A business is coming to downtown Albany, and the downtown manager expects to announce more downtown growth soon.

Alltel will occupy an empty storefront in the 100 block of South Jackson, just past the intersection with Broad Avenue. This will be the second Alltel store in Albany. The company's recent buyout isn't expected to affect the store's future operation. The company looked at several downtown locations before settling on the south Jackson store.

"It has a pretty good flow during the day and you know we looked at several different locations downtown but this one caught here eye and Alltel was excited about coming here," said Monique Broughton, Downtown Manager's Assistant.

The store is expected to open the second week of July.
