ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Employees at Phoebe Putney Memorial hospital are rolling up their sleeves to help save lives.
A blood drive is being held in the hospital cafeteria. Employees were asked to donate a pint of blood. And many took them up on the invitation and braved the needle.
They say this is a the least they can do since many of them have seen blood save lives.
"You see people all the time who need blood, and you could end up in that situation. So it's good to go ahead and give blood and help anyone out that you can," said Dustin Walsh.
The need for blood increases during the summer months because of the dangerous travel period and fewer people donate because they are taking vacations.
