ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One man was wounded in a possible gang shooting in Albany. Those shots were fired near Carver Pool as kids left the city recreation site Tuesday evening.

The Carver Pool just opened Sunday for the summer.  Police say the pool was just shutting down for the day when shots rang out in the vicinity near South McKinley and Burke.

23-year-old Donald Winchester was hit in the side.  Three others were being questioned Tuesday night. It all happened a little after 7 in the evening. Witnesses say a fight may have led up to the shooting.

Gang unit members were on the scene gathering evidence and investigating. They're looking into whether it is in fact gang-related.

"It's a good possibility that it is. Because of that possibility we picked it up. We would just like to say thank you to the public because the three possible suspects taken into custody is because of the outcry from the public so, good job," said Lieutenant Tony Moore with Albany Police.

Winchester was taken to Phoebe with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. Up until after 10 p.m., people were still being questioned at the Law Enforcement Center downtown and no one was charged with any crime.

Police say they still have a lot of questions. They say they need the community's help to stop this kind of crime.  If you know anything about the shooting, they want you to call Crime Stoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
