ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Some of Tyson Foods protein donation will be sent to the Food Bank's two Kids café locations to fight hunger among Dougherty County's children.

Because of the growing need, the Food Bank has opened a second Kid's café location at the Boys and Girls Club on North Jefferson Street. They provide kids with a daily well balanced meal that includes meat, cornbread, vegetables, a fruit, and milk. The Boys and Girl's Club Service Manager says more parents are waiting to pick up their kids because they know how important that meal is.

"A lot of parents really appreciate it because in the past they would kind of pick them up early but when we started the Kid's café parent make sure that they leave their kids until after the meals are here," said Jason Belk, Boys and Girls Club Service Director.

In the past two years, the food bank has distributed over five million pounds of food and grocery items throughout southwest Georgia.
