VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Hahira - A young rodeo rider from Lowndes County has earned a spot in an international competition.

Rising high school Junior Vicky Merriman will compete at the International Finals Youth Rodeo in Oklahoma next month.

Merriman trains at Hahira's K-B Horse Camp and competes in the Georgia Florida Youth Rodeo Association. She qualified for more events than ANY other rider in the association.

In Oklahoma, she'll compete in breakaway, pole bending, and goat tying.

"It's determination," said Merriman. "I want to go out there and win this year. I went last year. I didn't do real good, but this year I'm determined to go out there and win."

The International Youth Finals Rodeo will be held in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Merriman will compete in her three events from July 13th through the 18th.
