SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - At a time, when many car companies - and the dealerships that sell their products - are struggling to make it, one local dealership celebrated a silver anniversary Thursday morning.

Sunbelt Ford in Sylvester was recognized for being in business for 25 years. The dealership was presented with a plaque Thursday by company officials at a ceremony attended by about 40 people.

The store has called the same location home since it first opened its doors in 1984. And while the news for the car business has not been very good lately, the employees are optimistic about the next 25 years.

"It's been a little iffy, you know, but it's a new day and we're excited to be a car dealer, especially a Ford dealer today. And business is generally pretty good, actually," said Pete Pines, the General Manager of Sylvester Ford Lincoln Mercury.

Pines says that many of the employees have also put down roots at the store, with 80 percent of them having stayed more than 10 years.
