Albany Drive by shooting and home invasion investigated

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More gun violence overnight in Albany.  Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in a South Albany neighborhood and another home invasion in Northwest Albany.

About 1:40 Thursday morning someone fired several shots at this home in the 1200 block of Gillespie Avenue.

21-year old Edwin Reaves and four other people, including his three children, were in the home.

No one was hurt, but Reaves said one bullet hit so close to his bed, debris fell on his head.

A neighbor who's too scared to be identified told us drive-by shootings are almost a nightly occurrence on Gillespie Avenue. She said "I know it's gang related. I know that much. But I don't know why."

The neighbor says it's hard to sleep at night because of the frequent shootings.

Police have no suspects.

About 3 A-M two people at the Westwind Apartments on Dawson Road were awakened by masked men and robbed at gunpoint.

23-year old Kevin Haggins and 24-year old Yolandra Stephens say two black men wearing bandanas over their faces walked into their apartment while they slept and put a gun to Haggins head.

They ransacked the bedroom and stole clothes, a purse and cash.
