Albany - An Albany family gets surprise holiday gifts from United Way.

Phyllis James Ward was chosen to get a fully decorated Christmas tree, two poinsettias and a full box of food including a turkey. Ward's 15-year-old son, Kenny James, has a cancerous brain tumor. She says every little thing helps her and her family. Ward explains, "It means a lot. I'm overwhelmed. I'm about to cry, but I'll hold my composure. I really appreciate everything."

United Way delivered Christmas trees and food to more than twenty other families. It was a team effort of volunteers.

Cherokee Rose Food Pantry donated the food, Albany Kiwanis Club decorated the trees and Ivan Allen helped deliver.
