OMEGA, GA (WALB) - A South Georgia lawmaker says he's ready to lead the state as Governor.

A fundraiser was held in Omega Tuesday night for gubernatorial candidate Austin Scott. Scott has been a state representative for 14-years and wants to use that experience as Governor.

He wants to hear from citizens and will soon hit the road on a state tour.

"To listen to the people of Georgia and we have one primary question for the citizens of Georgia--if you were Governor for the day, what is the one issue you would address and how would you address it? And we're going to ask people all across the state," said Scott.

He'll use that input to form a campaign mission and vision statement. Other Republican candidates for Governor are Karen Handel, John Oxendine, Nathan Deal, Eric Johnson and Ray McBerry.
