(Atlanta)- WALB-TV received five GABBY awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting Saturday night.
WALB News 10 was awarded the GABBY for Best Newscast, Best Sportscast, and Best Non-News Local Programming for the U.S. Senate Debate.
News Anchor Dawn Hobby received the GABBY for TV On Air Personality of the Year, and Marketing Producer Josh Morey picked up a GABBY for Best Station-Produced Promotional Piece.
WALB also earned nine Merit Awards for Best Newscast, Best News Story for a live shot by Dawn Hobby, two for Best Series/Documentary for stories by Jennifer Emert, Best Sports Story by Joey Donia, two for Best Station-Produced Commercial by Chip Carter and Jim Bernhardt, Best Locally Produced Non-News Program for Peppermint Pops, and the Community Service Award.
WALB also received the 2009 Outstanding Public Service Award from the Georgia Army National Guard.
The awards were given at the GAB banquet in Marietta Saturday night.
