ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Police are investigating a late night shooting in south Albany. A woman was struck by gunfire when someone shot up her home in the 1300 block of Gillespie Avenue.
Lucretia Rivers tells WALB that she was standing on her porch when she heard gunshots.
"I heard something that sounded like buck shots, and when I heard the second shot, I felt something hit me," said Rivers.
Still shaken from the frightening event, she says she was grazed by four bullets late Sunday night.
"On my neck, my arm, and the side of my back," said Rivers.
She was standing on her porch just before 11:00 when she says the gunshots came out of no where.
"I went in the house and I got down and I told the kids to get down."
She then called 911, and police rushed to the 1300 block of Gillespie Avenue where they found a bullet riddled front door. APD crime scene techs gathered evidence and worked to pin point exactly where the shooter was located when they opened fire.
Rivers says she didn't see the suspect and has no idea why they would have targeted her or her home. But she does realize the situation could've been much worse.
She said, "I just thank God I'm alive."
Rivers was examined at the scene but not require medical attention.
Police have not said what type of gun was used or if they have any possible suspects in this case.
Anyone with information is asked to call Albany Police.
