ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An organization that works to help battered women and children in Southwest Georgia received some much needed help.

The Stand Up Again Outreach awarded the Liberty House with a $1200 check from the "Miss State of Mind Pageant" play fundraiser.

This money comes at a time when Governor Sonny Perdue ordered every state agency to cut their budgets by 25-percent.

This has been especially difficult for the Liberty House because it is during tough economic times that some women need them most.

The Liberty House saw a 60-percent increase in the number of women they are helping from last year. This money will help meet some of those needs.
