MITCHELL COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Drinking and driving have also contributed to a fatal accident in Mitchell County.

Georgia State Troopers were called to Highway 97 near the Highway 311 intersection at 7:00AM Sunday. That is where they found a Ford F-150 crashed into a tree.

Troopers believe the driver of that pick-up was traveling South at a high rate of speed and failed to maneuver a curve.

The man's name has not been released pending the notification of his family. Troopers say alcohol may have been a factor. A blood sample was sent to a crime lab.
