Albany- Lake Park Elementary students loaded up 773 new toys for the Marine Base Toys for Tots program.

This is the school's second year collecting toys for the needy. Teachers say the children were excited about donating toys.

"We're real excited about that. We've been trying to promote it tying it in with our character education teaching about values, and also the words of the week. We talked about generosity, kindness, compassion, so the students really had a chance to put what we were talking about into action," says second grade teacher Joy Martin

The students did have one incentive to bring in toys. They got to wear their choice of clothing instead of a uniform.
