Cook Planning Commission recommends race track

December 13, 2002

Cook County - A race track and family fun center may be located in Cook County. The Cook Planning Commission voted 6-3 to recommend the race track's development to Cook County Commissioners.

It would be located on a plot of land right of Interstate 75 between Adel and Cecil. The track could bring in an estimated 37 million dollars to Cook County annually.

Developers are still considering two other sites in Hamilton County, Florida and Lowndes County. Lowndes County Commissioners have tabled the issue several times, but say final action will be taken in January. Cook County commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposal Monday night at 6.
