Golfsmith International Holdings acquires McGregor name

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Albany based MacGregor Golf Company has sold it's name and intellectual property rights.

Albany economic development leaders say they don't know yet how the deal with affect the remaining 11 Albany based employees.  

Golfsmith International Holdings bought the 112 year old golf brands name, but announced no plans for the MacGregor plant in Albany.  

Golfsmith said they plan to re-launch the MacGregor brand during the holiday season.

Chamber President Ted Clem says he hopes it won' t mean the end for the Albany operation.

    A South Georgia county honored a fallen police officer Sunday, recognized 84 years after his death in the line of duty. It was a day of joy as one man got to see his uncle's name now etched into Colquitt County's monument honoring fallen first responders.
