ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Recent heavy rainfall may have caused a small sink hole to open up along a downtown Albany street.
Neighbors put up a barricade to warn drivers until city crews could fix the problem later Friday afternoon. Neighbors say water has been collecting along South Davis for several weeks and cars driving the street have had a hard time avoiding the hole, causing it to grow.
"I started noticing it about two weeks ago. They came out here and marked it off about two months ago and they never did get back to it," said Gary Phillips, a concerned neighbor.
Friday afternoon Public Works crews began making repairs. They say a clogged water line caused the problem and they've had difficulty finding the clog to make the needed repairs.
