MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - After the north team won the first Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association golf tournament last year, the south is out to even the score in 2009.
The south all-star team won seven of the eight first day matches to take a 7-1 lead at Moultrie's Sunset Country Club.
Colquitt County's Clarke Hendrick teamed with Tift County's Taylor Cooksey win one match for the south.
Lee County's Nate Gahman and Troup's Taylor Welborn also earned a point with a win.
Tift County's Jared Davis, a replacement for the south team, teamed with Thomson's Rebecca Goldman in a co-ed match for another win.
The overall title is still in doubt with 16 more matches on the schedule Thursday in Moultrie.
