Fort Gaines-- Councilman Gene Mallard is charged with aggravated assault in the December 9th wounding of his brother, James.

He's also charged with interference with government property after he struck the gate at the county landfill with his vehicle.

James Mallard works at the landfill. James Mallard was shot in the stomach with a .32-caliber pistol. Meanwhile, Gene Mallard is free on $16,000 bond.

Other charges include carrying a concealed weapon and driving under the influence of alcohol.
