ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Darton College Professional women's forum recognized the service military women provide our country during a ceremony at Doublegate Country Club.

Captain Adrein Humphreys has been in the Army for more than a decade and has seen significant changes in women's roles.

"When I cam in, women were in traditional roles, mostly administration and medical fields, but now we're getting more and more into combat operations, air artilery and some of the combat support areas,"  said Humphreys.

"Women play a very vital role in our military services and protecting our freedoms," said Beth Nielson-Smith of Darton's Continuing Education Dept.

Women now make up 14% of the army and are in 91% of the occupations.
