ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The murder trial for a Moultrie man suspected in a fatal home invasion nearly three years ago got underway this afternoon in Colquitt County.

Opening statements began at one Tuesday afternoon in Tyrus Carter's trial. He's charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in a home invasion October 23, 2006.

Twenty-two year old Diego Diaz-Gomez was shot and killed. Sixteen-year old Santos Perez was also shot in the leg but survived.
