Drug agents seize AK-47 and marijuana

By Christian Jennings - bio | email

THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Thomas County drug agents seized an A-K-47 and more than four dozens bags of marijuana in a recent bust.

Two brothers, 20-year-old Jamal Bryant and 24-year-old Jonard Bryant were arrested last week in Boston.

Agents found 52-ziplock bags of marijuana at their Martin Road home and a loaded assault rifle in the yard.

The Bryants were charged with possession with intent to distribute.  Agents say they have seized a lot of guns during recent drug busts.

"We've seen an increase lately. I guess because the economy is bad. They know these guys that are selling large quantities of cocaine and marijuana and ecstasy have large sums of money also, so they're robbing for money and drugs," says Kevin Lee with Thomas Co. Narcotics.

Agents say they've made several other drug arrests on Martin Road in Boston in the past.
