CHULA, GA (WALB) - The Tiftarea baseball team won the GISA AA State Championship sweeping Heritage Monday afternoon.

In game one Aaron Estes hit a walk off single giving the Panthers a 4-3 win.

In the 7th inning of game two the Panthers trailed by 1 run when Chase Ward hit a 2 run homer to center field and Tiftarea won 5-4.

In his first season as head coach of the Panthers Chris Howell was at a loss for words.

"you can't describe it. I have no idea what I'm feeling right now but it was unbelievable. These guys never gave up. We won both games in the 7th. So props to the guys they stayed in it and we did it" said Howell.

"This was big we've all been working all year for this and it just means a lot to all of us, the seniors who are leaving" said Tiftarea pitcher Aaron Estes.

"I got eight people behind me hitting, eight of my brothers back there" said Tiftarea pitcher Will Smith.

The championship is Tiftarea's second in the last four years.
