ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Recreation and Parks Department kicked off their summer sports camp Monday.

For the next four weeks kids between ten and 17 will learn the basics of baseball, basketball, football, golf, softball, tennis and other sports. The kids learned about basketball before lunch.

Supervisors say the camps get the kids out from behind the television and teach them important skills.

"Basically the rules of the game and hands on hands, and teaching them sportsmanship and discipleship," said Summer Camp Supervisor Linda Harris.

Supervisors say there's still time to sign up for the camps at the Carver Sports Complex, but space is limited to 50 students.
