Valdosta - Moody airmen spent the day loading a truck full of treats for the base's adopted Christmas family.

"Through this project, we're able to grant these families' wishes and give children the Christmas they deserve," said Pat Godwin, Project Organizer.

From new toys and clothes for the kids to gifts for the adults, the Moody Community is helping make this the best Christmas ever for 73 South Georgia families.

Base Chaplain Gary Perry says each family's wish list is short and simple. "I was really surprised that they're simply asking for the basic necessities, and nothing elaborate," said Moody Chaplain Pastor, Gary Perry. "They really just want what they need to get by."

And their efforts really do make a difference. "A few years ago, we got a letter from a little girl thanking us for her bed, and she said that in her 13 years of life, she had never had a warm bed to sleep in," said Godwin.

The truckloads of goodies made their way to Berrien and Lanier County Department of Family and Children Services Wednesday afternoon, and were distributed to the families...making this the Christmas they've always wished for.
