Albany State head coach Mike White has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's coach of the year.
White earned the award after taking Albany State to a 7-4 record in a season that included wins over SIAC champion Tuskegee and arch-rival Fort Valley State in the Fountain City Classic.
Mike White was not only the Rams head coach.
He was also their defensive coordinator..
Sophomore Walter Curry won the W.S.M. Banks lineman of the year and was one of eight Golden Rams to earn all-conference honors.
Offensive lineman Byron Doomes and center Rodney Magwood were first team All-SIAC selections along with Curry.
Albany State placed five players on the second team.
They are tight end Edward Harper, running back Kerenski McGhee, offensive lineman Lemon Cole, linebakcer Andropolis Williams and defensive back Tommy Jackson.
Tuskegee quarterback Terrence Jones, who played at Colquitt County High School, was a first team all-conference selection.
