It took the Trojans less than 15 minutes to add to that lead and beat the Knights 10-3 in the third and final game of their GISA AAA semifinal series.
The game was 1-0 Tattnall Square when it resumed in the top of the third.
After Deerfield-Windsor starter Rhett Cooper retired Garret True to start the frame, he walked DeAndre Smelter.
A bunt single by Jamie McMillan put runners at first and second.
Jordan Brooks single to left scored Smelter to make it 2-0.
A short single to left by Jackson Morgan loaded the bases and Deerfield-Windsor coach Rod Murray went to Evan Boyd to pitch.
Colby Andrews greeted Boyd with a double to right to plate two runs.
Hunter Wilkinson then singled up the middle to plate two more runs and give the Trojans a 6-0 lead.
The bad news for the Knights is they only had five at-bats to rally from the big deficit.
Evan Boyd drove in Matt Woodall with a 5th inning single.
DeAndre Smelter's two-run homerun upped the Tattnall lead to 8-1.
Knights scored two runs in the sixth and the Trojans added two unearned runs in the seventh.
Jordan Brooks took over for Garret True in the third and pitched five innings for the victory.
Tattnall Square will host Dominion Christian for the AAA state championship series starting Monday in Macon.
