ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  An Albany man is indicted for sexually assaulting six people while posing as a Police Officer.  He's indicted on 50 counts including rape, aggravated assault, and kidnapping both men and women.

The SWAT team was brought in to arrest 27-year old Phillip Conner March 18th at his home on South Street. Prosecutors say beginning in October 2008, Conner picked up at least six people off the streets telling them he was a cop.

They say he used weapons and sexually assaulted them. Prosecutors say several of the victims were injured as his attacks became increasingly violent.

"Then it would escalate to being allegedly more aggressive activities, including using guns, knives, and hands on these victims," said Dougherty D. A. Greg Edwards.

Conner is being held without bond in the Dougherty County jail. He would face life in prison if convicted. His trial is expected to take place in September.
