Albany- The board talked behind closed doors for more than an hour. Attorney Tommy Coleman briefed the members on Bill Scheer's legal status.
He says he has talked to the Scheer family and defense lawyers. Together they'll come up with a plan fair to Scheer and the school system.
"I think its pretty early to get to speculating on what his ultimate status might be. We're just going to try to evaluate the facts and try to reach an agreement useful to Dougherty County school system and move on from there," says school board attorney, Tommy Coleman.
Scheer was arrested November 25th and charged with killing his elderly father 12 years ago. He's out of jail on bond but has not returned to work at Monroe.
He cannot be suspended or fired without a formal board hearing. Tommy Coleman says he will continue negotiations with Scheer this week.
