Agents say that police responded to the apartment because of a burglar alarm. Officers found the back door broken open and went inside. That's where they detected a strong odor of marijuana, and saw pot in plain view.More >>
Tift County, GA (WALB) - Just two hours after the holiday travel period came to an end, a Tift County man was killed when his car ran off the road and struck a tree.
Troopers say a passerby called 9-1-1 around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning and reported a car in the woods along South Carpenter Road. When paramedics arrived they found 26-year-old Daniel Cox dead at the scene.
Investigators say Cox was traveling southbound in a white Nissan Maxima when his car left the road and hit a pine tree head-on.
No other passengers were in the car and Cox was wearing his seat belt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
