Judge Blitch suffers ruptured appendix

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A former judge accused of corruption was rushed to the emergency room last night. 

Seventy-four-year-old Brooks Blitch, former chief judge of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit, was rushed to South Georgia Medical Center after complaining of sharp stomach pains.

 The hospital says Blitch was suffering from a ruptured appendix. He is in serious condition, but the hospital says he's improving.

Blitch is currently awaiting trial and faces 14 counts of corruption. Blitch's trial is currently set for July 6th.
