ALBANY, GA (WALB) - It's "Older Americans Month", but even if you're "older" you can still have fun.

Like the twist contest at the 31st Annual Senior Citizen Picnic, hosted

the SOWEGA Council on Aging. The theme this year was the 50's, and they held twist and hula hoop contests.

Council on Aging Assistant Director Debbie Blanchard said  "See seniors are active. A lot of people think, oh, when you get old you are just going to sit back and do nothing. And that is far from the case."

More than 160 people attended the Dougherty County Picnic. The SOWEGA Council on Aging hosted a similar picnic in all 14 counties they cover Friday.
