ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The newly reorganized Albany Economic Development Commission is laying out a map for themselves and the community to show how they want to build business in Albany and Dougherty County.
The commission unveiled their Program of Work plan that lays out what type of businesses they plan to target. The EDC says Advanced-Process Manufacturing like Food Manufacturing has been successful in southwest Georgia.
They plan to meet with officials from MCLB tomorrow to see if there are defense or logistic businesses they should try to attract to Albany. [CG :Name\Ted Clem\Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission President]
"The Marine Corps Logistics Base is a great opportunity to pursue opportunities, trying to find win, win opportunities, are there companies out there that could be attracted here because of the basic work that the Marine Corps Logistics Base does?" questioned Ted Clem, Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission President.
The plan will also target Health Care and Corporate partners. EDC leaders also want to build a better relationship with site consultants, since they often decide where a company will relocate.
