Getting a division one college to take a chance on a small private school player is a very challenging task.
Keaton Icard will get his chance to play football at Troy State University.
Icard has been awarded a Trojan Opportunity Scholarship and a Hugh G. Rose Foundation Scholarship from Troy State.
Icard will walk-on to the Trojan football team.
Icard scored 98 touchdowns in the last two seasons where played quarterback for the Eagles and led Terrell Academy to the 2008 GISA Class A state championship.
He is looking forward to meeting the challenge of major college football.
Keaton Icard said. "It is really great. Even the smaller schools I looked at just waived because it was a smaller private school. To be at a D-I school, that is really great for me."
Keaton Icard also played for Terrell Academy's basketball team and was state runner-up in doubles at the GISA state tennis tournament.
