ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Many families are gearing up for a holiday weekend getaway and they'll be hitting the road with some higher gas prices.

According to Triple A, the average price of regular gas jumped 27-cents in just a month. The statewide average is now $2.18 a gallon. Those prices are common in Albany but we also found some places had gas as low as $2.13.

Antoinette Jenkins drives a Dodge Ram pickup and says holiday and summer plans will definitely depend on prices at the pumps.

"I'm hoping they go down soon because they're kind of high and it is hard to keep gas in the car and go back and forth to work and do other things like plan trips and stuff like that," said Jenkins.

Although prices are going up across the state and nation, they're still well below sky high prices a year ago.
