ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Public Works and Beck Motor Company hosted the second annual dump truck rodeo at the Commercial Drivers License testing site on Oakridge Drive.

Sixteen drivers were put to the test as they navigated obstacles that simulated everything from backing into a loading dock to a slalom course of barrels.

Last year's winner Jonathan Rodgers was back to defend his title and told us the way to win is with patience.

"You've got to be patient, don't just rush through it because you're going to hit cones any way, but the more cones you hit, the more time that's added to the end of the course," said Rodgers.

Drivers were also tested on their road knowledge with a 10 question exam. County officials say it's a good way to keep driver's skills sharp, while having a little bit of fun.

Jonathan Rodgers finished a close second, while Pete Lacey from Lowndes County Public Works is this year's champ.
